Suspect In River Drive Robberies Arrested

Columbia police have arrested an armed robbery suspect accused of holding up three individuals on River Drive on July 9.

Shawn Devaun Bethea was taken into custody Wednesday night at the Red Roof Inn on Two Notch Road, the police department said.

Bethea and an unidentified second man are accused of stealing money, wallets and cell phones from three people at gunpoint in the 3500 block of River Drive around 4 p.m.

Bethea, 21, is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, charged with three counts of armed robbery.
